Why Westerns? Here’s My Honest Answer.
People often ask us why we chose to write a Western. It’s a fair question. After all, the genre isn’t exactly trending on TikTok.
But here’s the truth: the world feels loud, heavy, and uncertain. Especially now. There’s so much chaos in our lives, and sometimes it’s hard to find any clarity or peace.
Westerns let me breathe.
There’s something grounding about wide open spaces, characters with real problems, and a world without Wi-Fi and 24-hour news cycles. That doesn’t mean the Old West was easy – far from it. But the conflict made sense. The stakes were clear. It was about survival, loyalty, freedom, and faith.
When I sit down to write in that world, it’s comforting. I can slow down, dig deep into the characters, and let the story unfold without distraction.
So no, Moses of the Colter wasn’t written to chase trends; it was written to honor God and share a story of faith from a simpler time for our readers, and maybe for you.
If you’ve read the book, we’d love to hear what you thought. And if you haven’t yet, maybe now’s the time to saddle up. Either way, thanks for walking this road with us.
Sincerely,
M.K. Nobles
